EWS 3 emulator/ MS42 needs sync after power is disconnected

Dear all,

I have bought an emulator for EWS 3 for a MS42 ECU.

http://www.cartools.lv/Robin/page27.html

I have connected the emulator according to the schematics and it connects when communicating with the software.
No problems so far. I retrieved the ISN number by EWS dump and write that number in the emulator. Then I have set the ECU for allignment [2] and set new rolling code [3].

Engine is Alpina B3 3.3 in E30. Car starts because starter wire is bypassed but engine doesn't inject or ignite. I need to enter the DME by INPA and reset and store EWS codes (SHIFT + F6 in main menu). Then the vehicle can be started and engine runs good.

Unfortunately I need to do this procedure everytime the batery is disconnected or if the kill switch is turned off. Is this normal? I was hoping the emulator would disable complete EWS even is battery was disconnected.

I hope somebody can tell me what I am doing wrong to solve this "problem".

Best regards,
Tomba

Common problem - you are removing supply from "15" together with "30".
When switching power off, first switch off "15", "30" must remain alive for some time to allow ECU to update itself.

Thank you Girts!

I e-mailed you some days ago but didn't have an e-mail back. Did you receive them?

Tom

I tried to do this on the bench;

1. connect power to the main power plug
2. Put 15+(12-13V) on (X60004 pin #26)
3. Enter DME with INPA and reset and store EWS value
4. Remove 12V from X60004 #26 (ignition) and pin #1? from main power plug (this should be the power from the relais which is triggered by the DME).

value is not saved.

Should the ECU be placed in the car, then started with reset and stored EWS values and after the start and running of the engine be switched of with removal of ignition wire and then wait ~30 seconds to store the value?

better leave main relay untouched, let the ECU switch it on/off by itself...
